Swing Bridge This is the end of the long spit of sand - the ocean rips through here when the tide changes. The boat traffic (tour boats, fishing boats) into the harbour has to wait for the swing bridge to open.

Bridge Over Bay Our train ride along the coast often had nice views of the ocean, but for a few seconds, we rode over the ocean. (This is the Yura River)

Lower Wall Of Castle Apparently this is a common (cliché?) angle to photograph the castle.

Castle With Interior Moat If I had a castle, I would certainly want a small forest growing in it.

Multiple Castle Buildings I believe there are 4 different towers in this castle. Never attacked, the towers were only used for storage and practice.

Parade Walking Past Torches After the torches were set up, a parade came by with hand held torches and walked up to the city square.

Rock Garden This is the Zen Garden in Ryoan-ji. From the viewing platform you attempt to see all 15 stones, but only 14 (or fewer) are visible from any position. This fifteenth century garden has all sorts of tricks. The far wall isn't even close to level and gives you a sense of depth from the forced perspective. The trees behind the back wall all have seasonal version (Cherry blossums, or falls colors, evergreen or deciduous.). The garden runs roughly east to west and the viewing platform is on the north side so the shadows change over the course of the day.
