The same road stop as .  That's Mount Shasta in the background but the clouds never parted.

This is our 7 person gas guzzling Ford Expedition on Saddle Road (which we weren't allowed to drive on).
We got out to the field and were amazed by how different the landscape was from our resort.

The base station is at the bend in the road down there.  There is still some plants here, but they quickly
thin out.

This is an old logging road.  There used to be a mill up here so they needed to move
logs and equipment.

The road was blasted out a rock outcropping.  This looks like the end of a
drilled tube that dynamite would be loaded into.

This is the Philosophers Path in all its blooming brilliance.  The Canal is lined with
Cherry Blossoms which were shedding like snow as we walked along.

Sometimes the walk came quite close to the mountain side and we
were in non-developed areas.

Shortly that human powered rickshaw will be in a race
with a tour bus full of people.

After walking around Nikko kicked us out at closing time (5pm).  We walked up the road from
our Hotel and found this little park.  We think the red hat markers are some sort of memorial.
