The Trail Is A Little Wet
It rained overnight so parts of the trail there were just moist before were now mud puddles.

Mud Pit Hiking
This is the kind of trail that is often called a "corduroy road" because all the logs laid across the trail resemble an extremely large example of corduroy fabric. While it's muddy (the logs rot at different rates), it's better than no logs.

Mudskipper
The local "what's here" sign told me the name of the species. I really like the little blue dots. These guys go from the little streams to the larger mud areas and seem to spend a lot of time fighting over territory.
Species: Boleophthalmus pectinirostris (大彈塗魚)

Bubble Bursting
Because the mud is thick, it wasn't hard to guess the bubbles and the pops. The short shutter time on the D2X made this an easy shot.

Fiddler Crab In Mud
One of the signs in the Hong Kong Wetlands park had the scientific name for this species. Notice it has one big pincer for fighting and impressing the ladies and a small claw for eating.
Species: Uca arcuata (Fiddler crab)

Cracked Earth
I like this cracked mud - it made one of the most uniform histograms I've ever seen.

Eroded Mud In Shadow
The blue is backscatter - light from the sky. This particular soil was fine so it made soft curves - other areas were harder and made crumbly edges.

Patch Of Yellow
I believe the yellow was deposited by the water levels in the nearby creek rising and lowering.

Ocre Soil
It's not often you see soil this bright. The plants seem to be able to grow in it though.
