Night Heron Sleeping In Tree
I wonder how well these birds sleep - I always see them with an eye at least a little open.

Two Pintails In Disagreement
In the pond close to our house, it's pretty much just Mallards and Canada Geese. Reifel has a lot more variety. These two birds were in a shoving match.
Species: Anas acuta (Northern Pintail)

Sandhill Crane With Water Behind Hg
These birds were poking in the fringe between the pond and the grass - probably eating bugs.
Species: Grus canadensis (Sandhill Crane)

Sandhill Crane In Grass Hg
Getting a unique picture of this bird on every outing is proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Feeding The Mallards
Helen's Mom hadn't been here before so I thought it would be fun to feed the birds.

Chickadee Does Not Like Seed
This Chickadee Tried the seed, rejected it and then bit Helen's finger. I wonder where they learned that trick.
Species: Poecile atricapillus (Black-capped Chickadee)

American Coot
I had really nice light - just lousy composition (the feet are somewhat important here). This bird is easy to identify - the non-webbed feet (and black colour and red eyes) make it stand out from other ducks.
Species: Fulica americana (American Coot)

Chickadee On Fence Post
These birds are quite smart (compared to say ducks) - I wonder if that explains why they are so plentiful.
Species: Poecile atricapillus (Black-capped Chickadee)

Chickadee Trying Seed
We saw a kid doing this - put food in your hand and the chickadees will come visit.
Species: Poecile atricapillus (Black-capped Chickadee)

Nara Carrying My Tripod
Claira is there too - she is hiding behind Mom. There are two ducks that were chasing here - it didn't help that she was leaking seed.

Chickadee Pulling The Stuffing From A Cattail
I don't really understand what this bird was doing - it's not nesting season and the bird didn't seem to be finding seeds.
Species: Poecile atricapillus (Black-capped Chickadee), Typha latifolia (broadleaf cattail)

Long-Billed Dowitcher
I'm guessing on Long-Billed because of the time of year.

Female American Wigeon
I did some research into Eurasian vs American Female wigeon - the head colours on the American are more distinct compared to the Eurasian.
