Snow In Quarry
Snow at the beginning of November is very rare for Vancouver - none of it stuck to the ground here. Further inland, some did stick.

Barred Owl Low In Cedars
You can see the owl only a few feet off the ground. He is trying to sleep - eyes mostly closed, but did become more aware when dogs on leashes walked by.

Satyr Anglewing On Chewed Leaf
4pm on a warm day is not a good time to take photos of butterflies - they move too much! This guy was pretty patient.

Barred Owl Looking At Me
Those claws (talons) really are for killing. Both time I saw the birds, I saw them fly to the ground to investigate things - I suspect look for small mammals.

Barred Owl Side View
Getting under the canopy to get a photo was easy - getting a clear shot without branches in the foreground took a little bit of maneuvering. When I wasn't moving, the bird basically ignored me.

My camera is in the shop - this photo was taken with my wife's camera.

Ruby Crowned Kinglet With Pollen Mustache
I believe the orange on their features around it's beak is from the Pollen in the tree. Lots of birds had that bright colour.

Orange Crowned Sparrow In Cherry Blossums
These are small birds, but were pretty common - I think I counted four in one tree.
Species: Oreothlypis celata (orange-crowned warbler)
