Zen Rock Garden

So it doesn't change very quickly - it sure is cool to look at. We are at Ryoanji Temple, trying to see
all 15 stones. Apparently the garden was designed by "Soami" who died in 1525.

Waterfall

The canal is fed by man small streams that run off the hills that hem in
Kyoto.  While the Canal might have had many industrial uses before, it's
appears clean and odorless now.

Walking the Philosophers Path

I was surprised how empty the walk was - other than a few other tourists and
the occasional Japanese group, there weren't many people joining us.

Philosophers Walk

This is the Philosophers Path in all its blooming brilliance.  The Canal is lined with
Cherry Blossoms which were shedding like snow as we walked along.

Huge Wooden Temple

This is apparently the largest wooden structure in the world. It's definitely
impressive.

Temple Bell

This was the morning of the first day - every temple was a new and
amazing thing, and for the most part empty. Of course it was 6am and
we were a little jet lagged.

Deer Feeding

Most of the trees had some sort of protection against the deer eating
the bark.  I guess eating petals is better than paper and plastic.
