That hook in the sky in the police Helicopter. The stripe is a small plane. The "fog" behind the city is the smoke from the fireworks.

It looks to me like the strip on the South Side of Robson is zoned to be only a few stories high - it's funny to be walled on both sides by taller buildings.
This is three images seemed together. I was going through my photos (in light of the 9/11) and noticed I could make up a panorama. It was a beautiful quiet morning.
Council Building
This is where the city council for Tokyo meets. Considering this city has a population pretty close to Canada, it's a significant place.
