This star was right at the edge of the low tide line and was washed by waves.

Sea Star Tide Pool
I like these super wide angle close stuff + landscape shots. Unfortunatly, they seem to look better in the camera than than they do in pixels.

Sea Urchine Bursting Out
Shot through water so there are limits to how much sharpness you can get.
Species: Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (Purple Sea Urchin)

Giant Green Anemone
These aren't as tolerant of drying out as the smaller Aggregate Green Anemone so you have to shoot through more water to see them.
Species: Anthopleura xanthogrammica (giant green anemone)

John Harvey Photo > John's Overnight Page > Port Renfrew > Giant Green Anemone

Aggregate Green Anemone
This one was way under a rock so I don't think it gets as much light and consequently had less alegae and green color.
Species: Anthopleura elegantissima (Aggregating Anemone, Clonal Anemone)

Black Katy Chiton
I love how Sea Sacs (Halosaccion glandiforme) has chosen to colonize the plates on this Chiton.
Species: Katharina tunicata (Black Katy Chiton), Halosaccion glandiforme (Sea Sacs)

Ochre Stars
These stars were the most common on the beach. I believe Piaster ochraceus is the most robust star when it comes to being left high and dry on the beach - they are always the first to be seen.
Species: Pisaster ochraceus (Ochre Star)

Red Sea Cucumber
Red Sea Cucumber, Cucumaria miniata to it's friends. These things are quite mobile - the bright red arms filter out food bits and then pull them inside to be consumed.
Species: Cucumaria miniata (Red Sea Cucumber)
