Swallowtail Hiding
I'm pretty sure this is a swallowtail. These butterflies basically don't stop moving during the day so getting one in the frame is a victory.
Barred Owl Triptych
Owls aren't easy to find - we only found this because someone else said there was an owl near by and we went looking for it. This was a short walk before dinner and I didn't bring my photo bag - just a 105mm and the 50. This is what I could do with what I had. The person at reception says there are three owls currently living in the garden.
Two Pink Flowers Stacked
This is two images stacked together in photoshop. I had the camera on a tripod and I could shoot with more depth of field - I chose not to because I wanted the background soft. Image stacking allows you to control what is sharp and how crisp the background is. Nice feature.
Great Blue Heron Hunting In The Lillies
The bird was still hunting when I left - one of the nice things about a long lens is that you don't disturb the wildlife as much.
Chickadee Looking For Sunflower Seeds
The yellow is the background was actually a large cedar hedge lit by the morning sun. I was really surprised this turned out - 1/40th of a second is usually way too slow to photograph an active bird like a Chickadee.
