Green Frog Half Submerged
I think if this was a bullfrog that ridge wouldn't continue down the back, it would wrap around the Tympanum and then end. Species: Lithobates clamitans (Green Frog)

Cardinal Meadowhawk On Reed
This beast was really territorial - I suspect it would be happy to just sit on this reed all day. Tags: Richmond Nature Park

Male Hairy Woodpecker With Fall Colours
The tree behind this dead tree had some nice fall colours. The dead tree is nicely monochrome so it all works well. This tree is about 6 feet from the feeding station. Species: Picoides villosus (Hairy Woodpecker)

Claira With Tarantula
I think this particular Tarantula species is from Mexico. It would normally live on a riverbank and have a nice house where it hide for days when it shed it's skin and hardened the new one. Tags: Richmond Nature Park

Garter Snake In The Leaf Litter
A real snake in the wild - I believe this is the one stripe morph of a Pacific Garter Snake. When I took my foot off the board walk, this snake turned around an headed back to the cover of bushes. Tags: Richmond Nature Park

Red Brested Nuthatch Eating Peanuts
There is a lot of feeders at the Richmond Nature Park. If you are lucky to go when there is no one else there, you see more species. If there are lots of kids running around, you only see squirrels and chickadees. Species: Sitta canadensis (Red-breasted Nuthatch)

Douglas Squirrel Mother
Sometimes you find more than you were expecting when you take a photo. This Squirrel is a mother and has three nipples showing on this side (three more on the other I would assume). I assume by September all her babies are grown up, but it's possible she is fed well enough to have two litters a year. Species: Tamiasciurus douglasii (Douglas's squirrel)

Eurasian Collared Dove On Rail
There are a lot of pigeons in Vancouver - mostly rock doves. This species (which is also an introduced species) I haven't seen in the city. The bird was actually quite skittish - he would readily fly up into the trees when people came by. Tags: Richmond Nature Park

Nara Rolling Dice For Prize
If you donated to the show at the front door, you got a red ticket. You could redeem the ticket for a dice roll at the prize board. The middle prizes (8,9,10,11) were a nice polished rock. The rare prizes (3 and 18) had really nice prizes. People: Nara
