One of the highlights of our trip was body boarding at Poipu beach.
Because we were there in December, most of the waves around Kauai were killer
- Poipu is sufficiently sheltered to be safe, but not so sheltered as to
be boring.
We went to Poipu several times and each time the waves were a different
- our earlier days were choppier but smaller - the last day was larger and
more organized - great conditions. The beach was frequented by the
locals and most of them had amazing talent on bogie boards.
Just down from this beach is the protected shallows where I took most of
my underwater photos.
