One of the highlights of our trip was body boarding at Poipu beach.  Because we were there in December, most of the waves around Kauai were killer - Poipu is sufficiently sheltered to be safe, but not so sheltered as to be boring.

Mark Body Boarding

We went to Poipu several times and each time the waves were a different - our earlier days were choppier but smaller - the last day was larger and more organized - great conditions.  The beach was frequented by the locals and most of them had amazing talent on bogie boards.

Wave Rider!Passing Lane

Just down from this beach is the protected shallows where I took most of my underwater photos.
