Great Burnet With Butterfly
The flower is quite striking. The butterfly was a nice touch. I thought this was a European Skipper at the time, but it quite clearly isn't. Species: Sanguisorba officinalis (Great Burnet, official burnet), Lycaena mariposa (Mariposa Copper)

Western Tiger Swallowtail Drinking
I was shocked to see this butterfly stop and sit. It was pretty early in the morning and there weren't a lot of flowers around, but I was really surprised by my luck. Species: Papilio rutulus (Western Tiger Swallowtail)

Four Spotted Skimmer
shot f 14 trying to get enough depth of field to get from one wing to the other. Shot 1/60th of a second at 400asa. Still missed it - the focus point was probably the stem so I lost the wing closer and the bug is blurry. Good try, but fail. Species: Libellula quadrimaculata (Four-spotted Skimmer)

Apparently there are about 2500 species of walking stick insects so the chance of me identifying this one is about zero. John Harvey Photo > Costa Rica > Walking Stick Bug
