The ejected pumice was still hot and burned the trees it came into contact with.
The trees died and left holes in the pumice. The wood is now mostly gone, and many
of the holes have filled in with loose material.

The lighting around this river was spotty and changing - fun
to take pictures of.

Being in Kyoto during the bloom was an excellent idea (and more than our
fair share of luck).

The Cherry Blossoms were blooming everywhere.

I love these trees - they have such great details.

This is me playing arts student.  Focus?  Composition?  It's "Art"

This tree is on the hike from Cultus Sound to a smaller bay on the other side.
The fungus on the right had side is probably an "Artist's Fungus" (Ganoderma applanatum).  The larger fungus
on the right is probably an old example of "Angel's Wings" (Pleurocybella porrigens)..

This Snake Tree is part of the Japanese Gardens.  It's cool.

Andrea wanted this picture for a lighting study.  I don't see it, but
there are lots of great organic shapes.

Ouch!  This big tree was blow over in the recent wind storm
and shattered being caught between these two trees.

This cave was formed by the tree roots pulling back from the ground.

This is a hemlock tree has a lot of wrinkles in the Bark.  Andrea
and I suspect it's caused by preasure.

I can imagine that trees have a hard time with this much
moss growing on them.  I believe this is Cat-Tail Moss.

This gives you a sense of how big some of these spirit are.
Terry Chapman (unrelated to the name of the creek) carved a these spirits in the trees.
